**Cash Worth Lakhs Stolen from Former Colonel’s Home in High-Security Society**

Date:

A sensational theft involving ₹15 lakh at the Ananta Lifestyle Society in Zirakpur has exposed the glaring inadequacies of the security arrangements. Unidentified individuals stole cash kept inside an almirah locker at the residence of former Army officer, Colonel B.M. Talwar. Colonel Talwar informed the police that his son, Rudraksh, along with his associates—Dixit Jain and Manpreet Singh—had pooled together ₹15 lakh for the purpose of purchasing a property.

As the property deal fell through, the money was brought back home, and his wife placed it inside an almirah locker in the bedroom for safekeeping. On March 13, when the locker was opened, the entire sum was missing. The family conducted their own search but found no leads; consequently, they filed a complaint with the police on March 14. The complainant suspects that an unidentified individual seized an opportune moment to commit the theft.

**Security Claims Prove Hollow**

Such a major incident occurring within a “high-security” society—which is ostensibly guarded by security personnel 24 hours a day—has left the residents stunned. After examining CCTV footage from the society and the surrounding areas, the police have registered a case against unknown persons and have intensified their investigation. The control room has also been placed on alert. Despite the round-the-clock deployment of security guards at the Ananta Lifestyle Society, the theft of ₹15 lakh from a locker casts a significant shadow of doubt over the efficacy of the private security arrangements in place.
