Last night, on the elevated flyover near the city’s power station, a horrific display of reckless speeding unfolded when a massive, overloaded tipper truck—laden with 45 tons of sand—struck and engulfed a young motorcyclist. The driver’s obsession with speed was so overwhelming that, even after the initial collision, he failed to apply the brakes and continued to drag the helpless biker along the road for approximately 15 feet. In this spine-chilling and tragic accident, the young man’s legs were severely crushed.
The blood-soaked victim has been identified as 38-year-old Vishal Malhotra. Vishal’s cousin, who was present at the scene, stated that Vishal runs a small mobile phone shop in the Salem Tabri area, which serves as the sole source of livelihood for his entire family. As was his daily routine, he had finished work for the night and was riding his bike home. En route—near an e-rickshaw—the massive 45-ton tipper truck, approaching suddenly from behind like a harbinger of death, plowed into him. The accident was so gruesome that Vishal’s motorcycle was completely shattered, and his legs were mangled beyond recognition. Immediately following the crash, a friend of Vishal’s who was at the scene demonstrated great presence of mind; without wasting a single moment, he swiftly rushed the profusely bleeding victim to CMC Hospital. According to the doctors, Vishal’s condition remains extremely critical.
Meanwhile, after committing the act, the ruthless tipper driver took advantage of the darkness to flee the scene. Upon receiving the information, a police team arrived at the spot and took control of the situation. The investigating officer confirmed that the police have taken both the wrecked motorcycle and the sand-overloaded tipper truck into their custody.
