The reign of terror by an “auto gang” continues to escalate in the metropolis, with a passerby becoming their latest victim. Recounting the incident, the complainant stated that on May 30, after finishing his shopping at Chaura Bazaar, he boarded an auto-rickshaw from Rekhi Chowk bound for Bhaiwala Chowk at approximately 5:00 PM.
At that time, three young men were already seated inside the auto. As the vehicle approached the local stand, the three miscreants—who had been posing as fellow passengers—revealed their true criminal nature. The cunning trio lunged at the youth and forcibly snatched his valuable Vivo-21 mobile phone. When he attempted to resist, the miscreants acted with ruthless brutality, shoving the youth out of the moving auto before fleeing the scene.
Swinging into action following the incident, the police initiated an investigation into the matter. Through diligent investigative efforts, the police successfully apprehended the three accused individuals: Vijay Kumar, Amandeep, and Jaspreet Singh. Demonstrating exemplary efficiency, the police also recovered the auto-rickshaw used in the crime (bearing registration number PB-10-HH-0842) as well as the stolen mobile phone. The police are now subjecting the accused to intensive interrogation in an effort to uncover details regarding other potential crimes they may have committed.
