On Tuesday, a junior doctor committed suicide at the Government Medical College and Hospital (GMCH) located in Sector 32. The incident caused a stir within the hospital premises. Upon receiving the information, the police and a forensic team rushed to the scene, and an investigation was initiated.
According to reports, 24-year-old Dr. Yogesh was working as a PG Junior Resident (JR) in the Department of General Medicine. It is alleged that he administered an injection to himself inside a restroom located within the hospital’s Trauma Center. Shortly thereafter, his condition deteriorated, leading to his death.
Preliminary information also suggests that the doctor allegedly administered four injections of Potassium Chloride to himself. However, this can only be officially confirmed following the police investigation and the post-mortem report.
Upon being informed of the incident, the hospital administration, senior police officials, and forensic experts arrived at the scene. The police have taken custody of the body and sent it for a post-mortem examination. Evidence is being collected from the site, and hospital staff and doctors are being questioned.
The police state that all aspects of the case are currently under investigation. The reasons behind the suicide have not yet been ascertained. The situation will become fully clear only after the post-mortem report and the ongoing investigation are concluded.
