A special event was held at the PCA’s New Chandigarh Cricket Stadium to honor Punjab’s young cricket stars. PCA Honorary Secretary Gurmeet Singh Meet Hayer felicitated Indian cricket team captain Shubman Gill and Gurnoor Brar, who was recently selected for Team India. The parents of both players were also present at the ceremony.
While honoring Shubman Gill—captain of the Indian ODI and Test teams—and Team India’s new recruit Gurnoor Brar, Meet Hayer praised the magnificent century scored by the Indian captain on the first day of the lone Test match against Afghanistan.
Wishing Gurnoor Brar a bright future, Meet Hayer expressed his firm belief that this young player would carve a distinct niche for himself on the cricket field.
Earlier, another historic chapter was added to the PCA’s list of achievements when Gurmeet Singh Meet Hayer inaugurated the first Test match between India and Afghanistan by ringing the traditional bell and officially dedicated the New Chandigarh stadium as a BCCI Test venue. New Chandigarh has become Punjab’s third and India’s 31st Test cricket venue.
