On Saturday, near the Samana bus stand, an Army soldier traveling in a vehicle committed an obscene act against a female constable of the Punjab Police and attempted to pull her into the vehicle.
With the help of bystanders, the female constable apprehended him. The accused has been identified as 22-year-old soldier Ramnath, a resident of Pasiyana; he is currently posted in Jammu & Kashmir and was home on leave.
The female constable, a native of Sangrur, stated that she is posted at the Samana City police station. She had been on special duty in Patiala on June 6. After completing her duty, she was walking towards the Samana police station in plainclothes to report back.
As she was walking from the bus stand towards the station, a young man in a car followed her and began molesting her. When she raised an alarm, bystanders caught the man and handed him over to the police. Station House Officer (SHO) Baljit Singh stated that the accused has been sent to jail.
