As part of the ongoing campaign against drug trafficking, the Amritsar Commissionerate Police has busted an international drug network and arrested six individuals. A total of 30.045 kilograms of heroin was recovered from the possession of the accused.
The investigation revealed that the arrested individuals were in contact with an alleged smuggler based abroad who was operating the entire network from Dubai. According to the police, the network was involved in transporting cross-border heroin consignments to Punjab and subsequently distributing them across various regions. Preliminary interrogation disclosed that the accused would collect the narcotics from designated locations—acting on the smuggler’s instructions—and then distribute them further. The police are now making efforts to identify and arrest other individuals linked to this network. Given the quantity of heroin seized, this operation is being hailed as a significant success in recent times.
