Senior Shiromani Akali Dal leader Sukhbir Singh Badal could face increased difficulties regarding the high-profile Behbal Kalan firing incident. Former Jathedar Giani Raghubir Singh has recorded his statement before the Special Investigation Team (SIT) probing the case.
Speaking to the media, Giani Raghubir Singh claimed that during his appearance before the Akal Takht, Sukhbir Singh Badal had admitted responsibility for the firing incident that occurred during the anti-sacrilege protests. He stated that a video recording of this alleged confession was also made and remains safely in the custody of the Akal Takht. Giani Raghubir Singh alleged that Sukhbir Badal had orchestrated the firing on unarmed and innocent people as part of a conspiracy.
It is worth noting that the issue of the firing incident—which took place amidst protests over an act of sacrilege—has long been a subject of discussion in Punjab’s political and religious circles.
