“That viral video isn’t mine; false propaganda is being spread for political gain,” clarifies CM Bhagwant Mann.

Date:

Amidst the controversy surrounding a viral video, Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann stated that the video is not of him and that a calculated smear campaign is being run against him. He noted that when he was summoned to Sri Akal Takht Sahib, he had already clarified that the person seen in the video was not him.

The Chief Minister pointed out that the physique and physical appearance of the person in the video do not match his own; yet, some individuals are blowing the issue out of proportion to serve their political interests. He alleged that religion and religious institutions are being exploited for political motives in an attempt to tarnish his reputation. Bhagwant Mann affirmed that he holds Sri Akal Takht Sahib in the highest regard and deeply respects this sacred institution. He said, “My head always bows before Sri Akal Takht Sahib. Its sanctity and honor are paramount to me.” However, he added that some people are using religious platforms to advance their own political agendas.

Without naming anyone specifically, the Chief Minister also took aim at opposition leaders. He remarked that many people visit Sri Akal Takht Sahib to admit their mistakes and seek forgiveness, only to retract their statements later, claiming they never said or did such things. He hinted that the public and the *Sangat* (congregation) are well aware of such duplicity.

Mann stated that his government is continuously taking decisions to safeguard Punjab’s water resources, uphold the honor of the Guru’s teachings (*Gurbani*), protect farmers’ interests, and secure the future of the state’s youth. He claimed that since many of his decisions run counter to the political interests of certain individuals, attempts are being made to drag him into controversies and damage his image.

The Chief Minister also referred to the incidents of sacrilege. He stated that when his government took the initiative to enact strict laws regarding incidents of sacrilege, many people were demanding such legislation; yet, now that the law has been enacted, those very same people are questioning it. He remarked that this makes it evident to the public who is engaging in politics and with what intent.

What did CM Mann say regarding the Sikh *Sangat*?
He said that the Sikh *Sangat* understands everything and is well aware of how decisions are made in various matters. Often, changes in these decisions are observed over time. He reiterated his commitment to working for the interests of Punjab and *Punjabiyat*, while leaving the final decision to the public and the *Sangat*.

In conclusion, the Chief Minister appealed to the *Nanak-naam-leva Sangat* (followers of Guru Nanak) not to be swayed by any misleading or false propaganda and to form their opinions based on facts. He stated that the truth eventually comes to light and expressed confidence that the people of Punjab know how to distinguish between truth and falsehood.
