Weather conditions have shifted across several states in North India, including Punjab. Recent rains and strong winds have led to a drop in temperatures, bringing people relief from the scorching heat. On Tuesday, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) issued a ‘Yellow Alert’ for 13 districts in Punjab, warning of thunderstorms, strong winds, and lightning strikes.
According to the Meteorological Department, strong winds blowing at speeds of 40 to 60 km/h are likely in parts of Budhlada, Lehra, Moonak, Patran, Batala, Ajnala, Dera Baba Nanak, Gurdaspur, and Pathankot. Thunderstorms and lightning strikes are also expected in these areas.
Meanwhile, thunderstorms, lightning, and winds blowing at 30 to 40 km/h are predicted for parts of Sunam, Fazilka, Sri Muktsar Sahib, Jalalabad, Faridkot, Ferozepur, Zira, Patti, Sultanpur Lodhi, Tarn Taran, Khadoor Sahib, Baba Bakala, Amritsar-1, Amritsar-2, Mukerian, and Dhar Kalan. The department has warned of rainfall in several areas of the state from June 15 to June 18, with a higher probability of rain across the state on June 19
