Amidst the scorching heat in Punjab, a new weather update has been released. According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), Chandigarh, rain, strong winds, and thunderstorms are expected in several districts of the state over the next four days; consequently, the department has issued a ‘Yellow Alert’ for these districts.
According to the Meteorological Department, no weather-related warnings have been issued for Punjab for June 18, and the weather is expected to remain normal across most parts of the state. However, starting June 19, strong winds accompanied by rain are likely in the districts of Ferozepur, Fazilka, Sri Muktsar Sahib, Bathinda, Mansa, Sangrur, Barnala, Ludhiana, Moga, Patiala, and S.A.S. Nagar (Mohali). Weather conditions in these areas could deteriorate suddenly over the next 48 hours.
Adverse Weather to Continue on June 20 and 21
Unfavorable weather conditions are also expected on June 20 and 21 in northern and border districts, including Pathankot, Gurdaspur, Amritsar, and Ferozepur. A ‘Yellow Alert’ has been issued for these regions as well. The department has urged the public to remain cautious during the inclement weather. People are advised to avoid going near trees, electricity poles, and weak structures during strong winds and storms, and to step out of their homes only when necessary.
