Four people died and five others were critically injured in a head-on collision between two cars on the Jalandhar-Pathankot National Highway near Kishangarh around 5:30 AM on Monday.
ASI Ranjeet Singh, in-charge of the Road Safety Force (SSF), stated that they received information around 5:30 AM about a severe collision between two cars in front of a *dhaba* (roadside eatery) past the Kishangarh bus stand, resulting in four deaths on the spot and injuries to five others.
Upon receiving the information, the SSF team rushed to the scene. Investigations revealed that a Maruti Baleno car (registration number PB-07-CA-1510) was traveling from Bhogpur towards Jalandhar. After crossing the Kishangarh bus stand, the car suddenly went out of control, crossed the divider into the opposite lane, and collided head-on with a Creta car bearing Uttar Pradesh registration plates.
The impact was so severe that the four occupants of the Baleno died instantly. The deceased have been identified as Rupinder Singh (son of Surinder Singh, resident of Hoshiarpur), Harpreet Kaur (wife of Rupinder Singh), Arshdeep Singh (son of Rupinder Singh), and Santosh Kaur.
Meanwhile, five occupants of the Creta car sustained serious injuries. Before the SSF team could arrive, locals had already rushed them to a nearby private hospital for treatment.
The injured have been identified as Alina Khan (daughter of Abdul Saeed Khan), Abdul Saeed Khan, Parveen Khan (son of Abdul Saeed Khan), Abdul Faisal Khan (daughter of Abdul Saeed Khan), and Mainal Khan (daughter of Abdul Saeed Khan). All the injured are residents of Bareilly, Uttar Pradesh.
