High Court hearing on DA arrears adjourned until tomorrow; decision to follow after hearing all parties; will employees get relief?

Date:

During the hearing of the case regarding government employees’ Dearness Allowance (DA) arrears in the Punjab and Haryana High Court, the Acting Chief Justice adjourned the proceedings until Friday. He stated that this is a matter of broad public interest and that his bench would hear the case. During the hearing, the Acting Chief Justice remarked that all aspects of the matter and all parties involved would be heard in detail.

He directed all parties to appear fully prepared for the next hearing so that every side’s arguments could be heard. Counsel for the petitioners argued before the court that the government has sufficient funds available for various free schemes. Whether it involves providing free electricity, operating free bus services, or the scheme to provide ₹1,000 to women, the government is incurring expenditure on these initiatives.
