Incidents of firing in Punjab show no signs of abating; such events are being reported frequently. Amidst this, an incident has emerged from Batala where a house was fired upon, creating an atmosphere of panic in the locality.
According to reports, miscreants opened indiscriminate fire at a house in Baal village, near Batala, late last night. The attackers fired approximately seven rounds at the main gate. Fortunately, there were no casualties. The police were immediately informed of the incident and have launched an investigation.
Sharing details of the incident, the victim, Kawaljit Singh, stated that he and his family were preparing to sleep after dinner when they heard the sounds of loud blasts. By the time he composed himself and stepped outside, the attackers had fled, taking advantage of the darkness. Seven rounds had been fired at his gate. Kawaljit Singh mentioned that he had not received any extortion calls. He suspects that a notorious individual from Batala—who has multiple criminal cases registered against him—might be behind the attack. The police have arrived at the scene and initiated an investigation; CCTV footage from the surrounding area is being examined.
