Meanwhile, in Punjab, neighbors and local residents have come together to raise around 2.5 lakh rupees in aid. Lovpreet’s family is currently in deep shock and facing a financial crisis. In light of this, residents of their neighborhood have decided that each family will contribute at least ₹10,000, according to their means; some have even contributed up to ₹20,000.
**Father is a retired CRPF personnel**
According to the family, Lovpreet’s father, Balvir Singh, is a retired Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) employee, and the entire family relies on his pension. Hoping for a better future, they had raised approximately ₹29 lakh by selling about two acres of land to send their son Lovpreet and daughter to Canada. Now, the family is left with only their house and two buffaloes.
Lovpreet had gone to Canada on a work permit about two and a half years ago and was working as a truck driver. His elder sister is also studying there. Yograj Singh also worked in the same city, and the two were close friends.
