As part of an ongoing campaign against drug smugglers, gangsters, and wanted criminals, the Bathinda Police conducted extensive search operations on Friday across various sensitive and drug-affected areas of the district.
In the action taken under ‘Operation Prahar’, the police detained 141 individuals wanted in various cases. During the operation, illegal weapons, heroin, drug money, and stolen vehicles were also recovered.
SSP Jyoti Yadav stated that special campaigns are being continuously conducted in the district following instructions from the Punjab DGP and DIG (Bathinda Range) Harjeet Singh. She noted that this marks the 15th phase of ‘Operation Prahar’ in Bathinda district, aimed at arresting accused persons wanted in serious criminal cases, proclaimed offenders, and criminals evading the law.
According to the SSP, 57 police teams conducted simultaneous raids across all seven sub-divisions of Bathinda district. A total of 141 individuals were detained during the drive. Among the arrested are several individuals involved in theft cases; 23 stolen motorcycles were recovered from their possession.
During the operation, the police also seized two illegal pistols—one .32 bore and one .30 bore. In a crackdown on drug trafficking, 43 grams of heroin and ₹85,000 in drug money were recovered from one accused. In total, approximately 150 grams of heroin were seized across various cases.
SSP Jyoti Yadav added that five proclaimed offenders (POs), who had been absconding for a long time, were also arrested during the campaign. She stated that the operation is still underway and the number of arrests could rise further. He stated that the police have also achieved success in their operations based on information received through the ‘Safe Punjab’ helpline and the ‘Anti-Gangster Tipline’. The primary objective of the campaign is to arrest accused persons wanted in pending cases, produce them before the court, and further strengthen law and order in the district.
