Responding to a call by the Samyukt Kisan Morcha, farmers from Punjab marched to Chandigarh. Police had to divert traffic, resulting in jams on the roads. Commuters faced inconvenience while stuck in the congestion, and the police struggled to maintain order, eventually requiring the deployment of additional forces. The farmers gathered at the Exhibition Ground in Sector 34 for a massive sit-in and rally. They continued to arrive until 2 PM in buses, tractor-trolleys, and trucks; upon reaching Chandigarh, crowds of farmers were seen gathering at liquor vends.
Meanwhile, the police had to issue an advisory to maintain traffic flow in the city. Several routes were altered, forcing people to travel longer distances to reach their destinations. The police urged the public to use alternative routes.
Farmers and their supporters arrived in Chandigarh packed inside buses and even seated on their roofs.
Police and paramilitary forces maintained a heavy presence at intersections across the city.
