A young man and an elderly farmer lost their lives in two separate road accidents in Bathinda district, leaving their families in mourning. In one instance, the police have registered a case naming the car driver, while in the other, a case has been registered against an unidentified container driver, and a search for him is underway. The police from the respective stations are investigating both incidents.
The first accident occurred within the jurisdiction of the Nathana police station. In a complaint filed with the police, Jasvir Singh, a resident of village Kauni, stated that on July 8, his brother Lakhvir Singh was traveling on a motorcycle with his companion, Sukhmander Singh. Suddenly, a speeding car, driven negligently, collided violently with their motorcycle.

The impact was so severe that both young men sustained serious injuries. With the help of bystanders, they were immediately rushed to the Civil Hospital in Bathinda, where Lakhvir Singh passed away during treatment. Based on the complaint, the police have registered a case against the car driver, Binder Singh—a resident of village Bhalaiana—for negligent driving and other relevant sections, and have initiated an investigation.

The second incident falls under the jurisdiction of the Maur police station. Beant Kaur, a resident of village Jodhpur Pakhar, reported to the police that her 65-year-old father, Gurvinder Singh, was riding his motorcycle on the evening of July 6. While on the road, a speeding container driver, driving negligently, struck his motorcycle. Gurvinder Singh sustained serious injuries in the accident.
His family rushed him to the hospital for treatment, but he passed away while undergoing care. Based on the complaint, the police have registered a case against the unidentified container driver and have launched efforts to identify and arrest him. Footage from surveillance cameras near the scene is also being examined to help locate the accused driver. Action has been initiated based on statements.
Police officials state that both cases are being investigated separately. Evidence is being gathered, and statements from eyewitnesses are being recorded. Once the investigation concludes, further action will be taken against the accused in accordance with the law.
The recurring road accidents once again highlight the dangers of speeding and reckless driving. The police have urged motorists to adhere to traffic rules, drive within prescribed speed limits, and exercise caution on the road to prevent such tragic incidents.
