South Africa’s star fast bowler Kagiso Rabada has been ruled out of the upcoming home Test series against Australia due to a severe right hamstring injury. According to reports, the 31-year-old Rabada may now have to stay away from cricket for about two months.
This injury has disrupted his fitness and training regimen, dealing a significant blow to the team. Allan Donald, the former South African fast bowler and current bowling coach of Rabada’s domestic team, the Lions, confirmed that medical assessments have ruled him out of this high-profile series entirely.
Initially, it was expected that he would be available for the opening four-day domestic match against Boland, starting on September 10. However, Donald stated on Sunday that Rabada would also miss all the Test matches against Australia. South Africa is set to host a three-match Test series against Australia, commencing on October 9 in Durban. Subsequent matches will be played in Gqeberha and Cape Town, starting on October 18 and October 27, respectively. Prior to the Test matches, a three-match ODI series will take place, beginning on September 24 at Kingsmead, Durban.
