A new detail has emerged in the case regarding the death of Punjabi influencer Manjeet Kaur. At the time of the incident, Manjeet Kaur was seven weeks pregnant. Her mother, Kanta Devi, has leveled serious allegations against a young man named Rinku.
Her mother claims that Rinku did not want to marry her daughter and was pressuring her to abort the pregnancy. The police will now summon Rinku for questioning to investigate this allegation along with other aspects of the case. Manjeet Kaur was previously divorced and lived separately in Sunny Enclave. Her mother, Kanta Devi, and her brother reside in Sector-19, Panchkula. The family has also made allegations against Neha, a resident of Amritsar. However, Neha states she is unaware why Manjeet’s mother named her in the statements. The police may soon summon Neha for questioning as well. The deceased’s mother also named Shubhi and Pinda in her statements to the police. Based on the allegations against them, the Sector-34 police station has registered a case of kidnapping and murder against Shubhi, Pinda, and others.
The police are currently searching for the accused and scrutinizing the call details of individuals who were in contact with Manjeet. Inspector Shadi Lal, the SHO of Sector-34 police station, is the investigating officer in this case and is personally conducting the probe.
Kidnapped, tied to a tree in Morinda, and burned alive
According to Kanta Devi, on the night of July 3, Shubhi and Pinda called Manjeet to a liquor vend located in Sector-34. It is alleged that the two assaulted her, abducted her in a vehicle, and took her to a forest area in Morinda.
There, she was tied to a tree and set on fire. During this time, an acquaintance of Manjeet arrived at the scene and extinguished the flames using a blanket. She was initially taken to Morinda Hospital and referred to PGI, but Manjit was instead admitted to Max Hospital in Mohali. Max Hospital informed the Kharar Sadar police station about the incident.
**Police Informed of a House Fire**
According to police sources, Manjit’s sister had informed the police after the incident that Manjit had been burned at home. Based on this, the matter initially came to the attention of the Kharar Sadar police. However, the reason why the police were informed of a house fire is being investigated. Notably, the police did not record anyone’s statement at that stage.
Later, Manjit’s mother alleged that her daughter had been abducted by Shubhi and Pinda, taken to a forest in Morinda, tied to a tree, and set on fire.
Manjit was brought from Morinda Hospital to Max Hospital in Mohali. Due to her critical condition, she was referred to PGI, where she was admitted on July 9. She battled for her life for a long period.
**Request to Record Statement Upon Regaining Consciousness**
Manjit regained consciousness on August 5. She expressed a desire to have the police summoned so she could record her statement. The PGI police post also informed the Kharar Sadar police station that she had regained consciousness. The PGI post conveyed this information via phone to the investigating officer, ASI Kulvinder Singh. It is alleged that, despite this, he did not visit the hospital to record the statement. **Abduction and Murder Case Registered After Death on August 26**
Manjit Kaur passed away at PGI on August 26 while undergoing treatment. Subsequently, the Chandigarh Police registered a case of abduction and murder based on the statement of her mother, Kanta Devi. The police are conducting raids to locate Shubhi and Pinda. Meanwhile, Rinku and Neha will be summoned for questioning. The police are examining call details, CCTV footage, and other evidence.
The police state that all allegations surfacing in the case are being investigated. The investigation will clarify who abducted Manjit, who was involved in the incident where he was set on fire in Morinda, and the actual reason behind the incident.
