Ludhiana Police have cracked down on fraudulent travel agents who ensnare youths aspiring to go abroad and swindle them out of lakhs of rupees; a case of fraud has been registered against four accused individuals. The accused extracted ₹9.40 lakh from a woman by promising to send her son abroad but failed to either send him overseas or return the money. Following a thorough investigation into the victim’s complaint, the police have registered a case against four people—including two women—and initiated further action.
According to reports, the victim, Nisha, had sought justice by submitting a written complaint to senior police officials. In her statement, the complainant explained that the accused had acted in collusion to hatch a well-planned conspiracy. They lured her son, Anubhav Sharma, with promises of a bright future and a good job abroad. Under the guise of this process, the accused collected a total of ₹9,40,000 (nine lakh forty thousand) from her in installments. Despite the passage of considerable time after receiving the money, the accused failed to send Anubhav Sharma abroad.
When the victim demanded a refund, the accused resorted to evasive tactics and eventually flatly refused to return the money. Upon realizing she had been defrauded, she reported the matter to the police. The accused named in the case are Sonia Basra, Vasan Singh, Parvinder Kaur, and Savita Sharma. Police officials state that teams are conducting raids at the suspects’ potential hideouts to apprehend them; they will soon be arrested and brought to justice.
