Ludhiana Jail Additional Superintendent Suspended for Providing VIP Treatment to Accused; 11 Inmates Were Receiving Special Favors

Date:

An FIR has been registered against Balvir Singh, the Additional Superintendent of Ludhiana Central Jail, on charges of accepting money from accused individuals—incarcerated in connection with GST-related cases—to keep them segregated from other inmates and provide them with special privileges. An investigation, initiated after a complaint reached the ADGP (Prisons), revealed details of alleged financial transactions involving approximately 11 accused persons.

Following this, the Prison Department suspended Balvir Singh. The officer absconded immediately after the FIR was registered. The police are conducting raids at various locations, including his official residence, in search of him.

The police from Division Number 7 station are now investigating who allegedly paid the money, the amount involved, and which specific facilities were provided in violation of prison rules.

Names of 11 GST Accused Surface
Preliminary investigations have identified about 11 accused individuals involved in GST cases. It is alleged that these individuals were kept separate from general inmates, provided with superior food and beverage arrangements, and granted other special privileges. According to sources, the complaint regarding this alleged scheme reached senior officials from within the prison itself rather than from an external source. An officer or staff member gathered information and lodged a complaint about the accused who were allegedly receiving special treatment. Action was taken after the investigation confirmed the alleged financial dealings involving these 11 accused individuals.
