On Monday night, miscreants vandalized the statue of Baba Saheb Dr. Bhim Rao Ambedkar in Barian Kalan village, located in the Chabbewal assembly constituency, by attacking it with bricks.
The statue’s finger, ear, and spectacles were broken. Upon learning of the incident, leaders of SC organizations and a large number of people arrived at the scene and staged a protest.
The Chabbewal police are examining CCTV footage; DSP Bharat Bhushan Saini stated that the accused would be identified based on the footage and arrested soon.
Terrorist Pannu claims responsibility
A video circulated on social media on Tuesday morning in which US-based Khalistani terrorist Gurpatwant Singh Pannu claimed responsibility for the incident.
Earlier, on September 9, a statue of Dr. Bhimrao Ambedkar had been desecrated in Ludhiana. Dr. Avtar Singh Karimpuri, the state president of the BSP, announced that a massive protest demonstration would be held in Hoshiarpur on September 18.
