Two new special courts have been established in Ranchi to ensure the speedy disposal of cases related to the National Investigation Agency (NIA) in Jharkhand. Following a notification from the Central Government, the Principal Judicial Commissioner of the Ranchi Civil Court has designated the courts of Additional Judicial Commissioner-17 (Sanjeev Jha) and Additional Judicial Commissioner-20 (Arvind Kumar-II) as special courts to hear scheduled NIA offenses.
The jurisdiction of both courts will extend across the entire state of Jharkhand. The Central Government issued the notification designating these courts on July 16. This official order was issued based on correspondence from the Jharkhand High Court and the NIA. Three newly appointed High Court judges to take the oath on Wednesday.
Three Principal District and Sessions Judges from Jharkhand will take the oath as judges of the Jharkhand High Court on September 23. The swearing-in ceremony will be held at 10:15 AM on the ground floor of the High Court premises. High Court Chief Justice MS Sonak will administer the oath of office and secrecy to the three newly appointed judges. The High Court administration has begun preparations for the ceremony. The three Principal District Judges appointed as Jharkhand High Court judges are Manoj Prasad, Akhil Kumar, and Ram Sharma. The Central Government has already issued the notification regarding their appointments, and the High Court has received the warrants of appointment.
Supreme Court Collegium Had Approved the Appointments
The Supreme Court Collegium had approved the recommendation to elevate these three Principal District Judges to the High Court bench. Subsequently, the Central Government issued the notification regarding their appointments.
Among the newly appointed judges, Manoj Prasad was serving as the Principal District and Sessions Judge of Garhwa, Akhil Kumar as the Principal District and Sessions Judge of Sahibganj, and Ram Sharma as the Principal District and Sessions Judge of Daltonganj.
