A commotion broke out on Saturday morning at the PGI New OPD regarding the issuance of registration cards. An argument ensued between a female hospital attendant and a security guard at the card counter of the Skin Department, located on the fifth floor. As the dispute escalated, a crowd gathered at the scene.
Other security guards arrived to bring the situation under control, and the woman’s card was eventually issued. Reportedly, while registration cards are typically issued until 11:00 AM on regular days at PGI, the cut-off time is set for 10:30 AM on Saturdays due to the half-day schedule.
On Saturday morning, the female hospital attendant was standing in the queue at the counter to get a card made. Around 10:30 AM, a security guard asked her to leave the line, citing that the deadline had passed. This triggered an argument between the woman and the security guard.
The dispute quickly escalated, drawing a crowd of onlookers. Observing the situation worsening, other security guards arrived to intervene and manage the matter. The woman’s card was issued following the dispute.
However, a tense atmosphere prevailed at the card counter for some time. Given the heavy influx of patients and their attendants at the PGI New OPD, it is essential to have clear information regarding card issuance timings to prevent such last-minute confrontations.
