The police have tightened security arrangements for Union Home Minister Amit Shah’s scheduled visit to Dehradun tomorrow, November 6. A multi-layered security perimeter is being established, covering everything from the VVIP’s route to the event venue.
Residents of high-rise buildings along the route will undergo 100% verification, while water tanks, flyovers, and other sensitive locations will be thoroughly inspected by the Bomb Detection and Disposal Squad (BDS) and dog squads. The use of drones at or near the event venue is strictly prohibited.
On Wednesday, senior police officials briefed the personnel assigned to security duty and reviewed the arrangements. Officers instructed all police personnel to arrive at their designated posts three hours early and conduct a meticulous inspection of the surrounding area. Carrying duty cards and identification documents is mandatory. Personnel have been warned of disciplinary action if they leave their assigned posts without authorization or use mobile phones while on duty. Only authorized individuals and vehicles will be permitted to enter the event venue following security checks. Anyone meeting the VVIP will also undergo a security screening.
Pre-cleared individuals will be granted entry only after an ‘anti-sabotage check.’ At entry and exit points, individuals will be screened using Door Frame Metal Detectors (DFMD) and Hand-Held Metal Detectors (HHMD) before being allowed to proceed to their designated areas.
To manage crowds during the departure phase, instructions have been issued to use loudspeakers to guide people out in an orderly manner, ensuring that no stampede-like situation arises.
Additionally, hotels, guesthouses, bus terminals, and the railway station will be subject to checks and verification to identify any outsiders or suspicious individuals. Present at the briefing were Director General (Intelligence and Security) Abhinav Kumar, Additional Director General of Police V. Murugesan, IG Nilesh Anand Bharne, IG (Garhwal) Rajiv Swaroop, SSP Pramendra Doval, and other officials.
