Kisan Andolan: The hunger strike of Jagjit Singh Dallewal, leader of the non-political United Kisan Morcha (SKM), continued for the 49th day on Monday at Khanauri border of Sangrur. Doctors say that his health is deteriorating day by day and any untoward incident can happen at any time. Meanwhile, a joint meeting of both the factions of SKM, non-political and political, was held in Pattran.
The farmer organization will formulate a strategy on January 18
The leaders involved in it agreed to fight together against the central government regarding the demands of the farmers. It was decided in the meeting that a joint strategy will be made against the Center by holding a meeting with the leaders of all the farmer organizations on January 18. Along with this, farmers across the state celebrated Lohri by burning copies of the draft of the new agricultural marketing policy of the Center.
A group of farmers is reaching Khanauri
After the joint meeting at Gurudwara Sahib in Pattran, the farmer leaders said that the meeting was held in a very cordial atmosphere. Everyone decided to unite and fight against the central government. A meeting of all the farmer organizations will be held in Pattran on January 18 to formulate a strategy for a comprehensive struggle against the Center.
Many farmer leaders including farmer leaders Sarwan Singh Pandher, Kaka Singh Kotra, Abhimanyu Kohad, Joginder Singh Ugrahan, Balbir Singh Rajewal, Raminder Patiala and Dr. Darshanpal were present in the meeting. On the other hand, a group of farmers from Sonipat reached Khanauri in support of Dallewal. Farmers from Kaithal district will reach on Tuesday.
The farmers of Haryana said that they are with Jagjit Singh Dallewal and will take his message and the story of struggle to every house by holding meetings in every village. In view of the festival of Lohri, anger was expressed against the central government by burning copies of the new farming policy draft on the Khanauri border by both the forums.
Hearing in the Supreme Court on January 15
The Supreme Court will hear the health related matter of farmer leader Jagjit Singh Dallewal and other petitions on January 15. Justice Suryakant and Justice N. Kotiswar Singh’s bench will hear the petition filed by Dallewal.
The apex court will also hear a petition seeking contempt action against Punjab government officials who did not follow its instructions to take Dallewal to the hospital on December 20 last year. It is worth noting that Dallewal is the convener of the United Kisan Morcha (non-political).
