Farmer leader Jagjit Singh Dallewal has been on a hunger strike for 53 days at the Khanauri border of Punjab and Haryana. According to farmer leader Abhimanyu Kohad, Dallewal’s weight has reduced by 20 kg. When he sat on a hunger strike, his weight was 86 kg 950 grams, whereas now it has come down to 66 kg 400 grams.
At the same time, today marks the 3rd day of the hunger strike by 111 people at the Khanauri border in support of Dallewal. A day earlier, officials of the administration and police had come to meet Dallewal.
According to Dallewal’s latest medical report, the result of kidney and liver related tests is 1.75, which should be less than 1 under normal circumstances. Farmer leaders said that the government deliberately tells the Supreme Court the results of those tests which take more time to decline.
Farmers angry over Punjab government’s reply in Supreme Court
Farmer leaders said that we were surprised to see that the Punjab government’s lawyer says in the Supreme Court that Jagjit Singh Dallewal’s health is improving. Farmer leaders asked whether sitting on a fast unto death improves health or worsens it? He said that if sitting on a fast improves health, then hospitals across the country should be closed and sick people should be made to sit on a fast so that their health can improve.
Farmers will march to Delhi on January 21
On Thursday, farmer leader Sarwan Singh Pandher held a press conference at Shambhu border and announced a march to Delhi on January 21. Pandher said that 101 farmers will be included in the group. The central government is not yet ready for talks, so the movement will be intensified.
He also warned PM Narendra Modi that as soon as he is the Prime Minister, a law guaranteeing crop purchase at MSP will come in the country. All the demands of the farmers are in the interest of the country and they will be implemented.
Tried to march to Delhi 3 times, stopped by Haryana Police
Earlier, farmers have tried to march to Delhi 3 times in the month of December. On 6 December, 8 December and 14 December, 101 farmers left for Delhi, but all three times Haryana Police stopped them. Tear gas shells and water cannons have been used on the farmers, in which many farmers were injured.
Meeting with SKM on 18th
On January 18, there will be a meeting in Pattran, Patiala, of the leaders sitting on the agitation with the United Kisan Morcha (SKM) regarding the farmers’ movement. After this, a tractor march will be taken out on January 26.
Supreme Court summoned all medical reports, will take opinion from AIIMS
Hearing was held in the Supreme Court on January 15 regarding Dallewal’s hunger strike. During this, the court has summoned all the reports related to Dallewal’s health from the Punjab government. Regarding which the court will take the opinion of AIIMS. Earlier during the hearing, the Punjab government first said that Dallewal’s condition had improved, but when the Supreme Court asked about it, it said that his condition was stable.
However, Dallewal had earlier written letters to the Prime Minister, Vice President, Chief Justice of the Supreme Court and saints and great men of all religions. In these, he has demanded that the government be asked to fulfill other conditions including MSP guarantee.
