Congress has released the list of its star campaigners for the assembly elections to be held on February 5 in Delhi. But the name of former cricketer and former Punjab Congress President Navjot Singh Sidhu is not included in this list. However, Jalandhar MP and former CM Charanjit Singh Channi’s name has been placed at the top of the list.
After that, the names of Punjab Congress President and Ludhiana MP Amarinder Singh Raja Vading and Sukhpal Singh Khaira are included. This is not the first time that Sidhu’s name has not been included in the list of star campaigners. Earlier, he had also stayed away from the Lok Sabha elections and the assembly by-elections held in Punjab. At that time he had said that his wife was ill. In such a situation, his focus is on his wife’s health.
Navjot Singh Sidhu is away from the party since January last year
He had been away from the Punjab Congress Party since January last year. Since then he has not even come to the party office. He used to meet only his close leaders. After this he came to TV commentary.
He put his entire focus on that. Meanwhile, just before the Lok Sabha elections in March last year, the media had asked him outside the Governor’s House in Chandigarh whether he would contest the Lok Sabha elections.
His answer to this was that his goal is only to serve Punjab. He does not want to go to the Center. If he wanted to become a minister at the Center, he could have reached there by contesting elections from Kurukshetra on a BJP ticket.
Sailja’s name tops the list
If we talk about Himachal and Haryana, then many leaders from here have also managed to make their place in the staff type list. These include the names of Haryana MP Kumari Selja, Himachal Pradesh CM Sukhwinder Singh Sukhu, former Haryana CM Bhupendra Hooda.
However, if we look at the list of 40 members, Kumari Selja’s name is at number 12. After this are the names of other leaders from Punjab and Haryana.
