Delhi march on 21 January postponed: Farmer leader Sarwan Pandher made the announcement, a meeting with the Centre is to be held on 14 February

After receiving an invitation from the Centre for talks on other demands including legal guarantee of MSP, farmer leader Jagjit Singh Dallewal sought medical help on Sunday, the 55th day of his hunger strike. However, he has refused to end his hunger strike.

The farmers have postponed their proposed march to Delhi on January 21. Farmer leader Sarwan Singh Pandher announced this from Shambhu border. The Centre has scheduled a meeting on February 14 to consider the demands of the farmers. The farmers had earlier announced that a group of 101 farmers would march to Delhi on foot on January 21.

On the other hand, after receiving an invitation from the Centre for talks on other demands including legal guarantee of MSP, farmer leader Jagjit Singh Dallewal sought medical help on Sunday, the 55th day of his hunger strike. However, he has refused to end his hunger strike. He has said that he will not eat food until a law guaranteeing MSP is enacted. On the other hand, 122 farmers who were on hunger strike in his support were made to break their hunger strike on Sunday by giving them juice.

Farmer leader Kaka Singh Kotda said that he persuaded Dallewal a lot to take medical help. He was told that it is necessary for him to get well to strongly present the farmers’ side in the meeting on February 14. Then he agreed to take medical help. After this, a panel of eight experts and senior doctors reached the front at around 1 o’clock late night and started giving medical help to Dallewal.

DIG gave juice to 122 farmers

On Sunday, Patiala Range DIG Mandeep Singh Sidhu and SSP Dr. Nanak Singh reached the border to meet farmer leader Dallewal. After knowing the condition of Dallewal, the officials ended the hunger strike of 122 farmers including farmer leader Sukhjit Singh Hardojhanda by giving them juice. All these farmers were on hunger strike in support of their leader Dallewal.

Cases registered against farmers will be cancelled

Farmer leaders said that on 23 February 2024, a large number of farmers who had gathered at Khedi Chaupata in Hisar in support of Kisan Andolan-2 were brutally dealt with by the Haryana Police. In which many farmers were injured and many false cases were registered. At that time, under the agreement reached at the local level, the administration had promised to cancel the case, but 3-4 days ago, notices are being sent to the farmers again. Farmer leaders said that it is the responsibility of both the fronts to get the cases related to the movement cancelled and this subject will be discussed in the meeting to be held with the central government. Farmer leaders said that a decision will be taken soon by holding a meeting of both the fronts regarding the upcoming programs already announced.
