Today, a hearing was held in the Supreme Court on the health of farmer leader Jagjit Singh Dallewal, who is on a hunger strike for 13 demands including the guarantee of MSP on crops. Advocate General Gurminder Singh, who appeared on behalf of the Punjab government, said that there have been many positive improvements in the case.
He told the court that the Center had sent its representatives on January 18. He has scheduled a meeting with the farmers on February 14. After this, Dallewal and other farmers have also started taking medical help. His health has improved after medical assistance.
Punjab government’s senior advocate Kapil Sibal has also told the court that Dallewal has been shifted to a temporary hospital built near the protest site.
After this, Justice Kant said – We hope that Dallewal will take care of his health. As long as he is mentally strong, he will be able to fight for his interests.
The court said – Dallewal has agreed to participate in the talks scheduled on February 14. We have also been informed that some other farmer leaders have also broken their fast and agreed to resume talks. All stakeholders will be able to take action and resolve whatever issues are there in the national interest.
In the end, Justice Kant got angry on Dallewal’s health report. He said – remove the line which states that Dallewal is out of danger. Just say that his condition has improved. In view of the current developments, the contempt proceedings have been postponed and the requirement of presence of officials has been abolished. The next hearing of the case will be at the end of February.
Here, today is the 58th day of Dallewal fasting at the Khanauri border of Haryana-Punjab. Today itself he has been taken out of the trolley and shifted to a room/trolley built near the stage. Here he will be able to get sunlight easily.
Earlier Dallewal said – ‘I did not need treatment. Due to the 121 farmers who were on fast unto death, I put pressure on them and agreed to take the treatment. We will win the battle not with bread but with the grace of Akal Purakh. May Guru Nanak bless me, the body is his, everything will happen with his grace. I have the feeling of the Sangat, if they take me to the meeting, I will also go to the meeting.’
At the same time, today the farmer leaders have told that Dallewal was facing difficulty in putting the drip since 12 o’clock last night. In such a situation, he was not given the drip.
