Apart from Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah, Union Minister and BJP Chief JP Nadda have also spoken to CM Yogi on the phone. Union Health Minister JP Nadda has said that all health services will be helped by the central government.
How did the stampede happen?
On the occasion of Mauni Amavasya, a huge crowd of devotees had gathered in the Sangam area. The crowd grew so much that people broke the barricades and climbed on the sleeping devotees. After the incident and the continuous increase in the crowd, the administration requested the akhadas to temporarily postpone their ritual bath.

Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath also spoke to the akhadas to not take the Amrit bath. Due to this, the akhadas postponed the Amrit bath. At five in the morning, Shri Mahanirvani and Atal Akhara were to take the Amrit bath. After this, Niranjani and Anand Akhara would take bath. Then it was time for the bath of Juna, Agni, Avahan and Kinnar Akhara. After them, Digambar Ani, Nirmohi Ani and Nirvani Ani of the Vaishnav sect would take bath. Finally, Nirmal Akhara was to take the Amrit bath.
Do not try to go towards Sangam Nose: CM Yogi
CM Yogi has said that whoever is near the ghat of Maa Ganga, should take bath there, do not try to go towards Sangam Nose. Many bathing ghats have been built for bathing. Bathing can be done anywhere. Follow the instructions of the administration. Cooperate in making arrangements. Do not pay attention to any rumours.
Administration busy controlling the situation in Sangam area
The situation became uncontrolled after the stampede near the gate built before the Sangam bank. There was chaos due to the death and injury of many devotees. Police, administration, disaster management team showed promptness and started relief and rescue work. After about three hours, the situation was brought under control but the officers were busy in controlling it completely. On the other hand, the Akharas refused to take Amrit bath and said that they will fully cooperate with the fair administration.
