The child’s face was burnt with an iron

On Sunday, a case came to light in Rishi Colony of Patiala where a young woman living in a rented house beat up Jaskaran, a 10-year-old child kept with her, kept him in a room without a roof and tortured him by burning his face with a hot iron. The only allegation was that the child had left the gas regulator burning. On the statements of Satpal Singh, head sevadar of Apna Farz Seva Society, Urban Estate Police Station has registered a case against the young woman Mani Sharma, resident of Mahavari Park Jaiton and arrested her. The organization had received information about this.

The child was adopted

It has been found out that a woman named Mani Sharma, who had come to Patiala from Faridkot, had adopted the child a year ago. The woman who had initially promised to love him like a mother, later started torturing the child. Police investigation revealed that the accused woman did not enroll the child in school, but also made him do household chores. If he did not do the work, the child was beaten with a belt. The situation became more horrific when the woman applied a hot iron on the child’s cheek on the complaint of the neighbors about the dog barking. Not only this, while beating the child’s head hit the wall, but he was not even treated.

She used to make him do all the household work, beat him with a belt

The child told that he has been living with the said woman for a long time and is originally from Harike Patan. His father is a driver and he has two brothers, of whom he is the eldest. His father left him with the mother of accused Mani Sharma saying that he cannot raise him. After this, after keeping him with her for four days, his mother left him with her daughter in Patiala and since then he is living with her.

The child told that the accused Mani makes him do household chores like sweeping, cleaning, washing clothes etc. till late night. Despite working, she beats him with a belt or sometimes with a stick. The child told that he had done all the household work, yet she used a hot iron on his face. She did not even give him food and kept him in an open space without a roof behind the room.
