Municipal elections in Haryana on March 2: Results after 10 days, code of conduct implemented; transfer banned, elections in 35 bodies including 8 corporations

Municipal elections have been announced in Haryana. Voting will be held on March 2, while the results will be declared on March 12. Chief Electoral Officer Dhanpat Singh said in a press conference in Chandigarh on Tuesday that nominations will start from February 11, which will continue till February 17.

He said that repolling will be held on March 9. Counting will start from 8 am on March 12. No transfer will be possible during this time. If any transfer is necessary, permission will have to be taken from the commission for it. The code of conduct has come into force from today. The code of conduct will be applicable where elections are to be held.

Elections are to be held in 35 bodies in the state. These include 8 municipal corporations, 4 municipal councils, 21 municipalities. While by-elections will be held for the mayor in Ambala and Sonipat.

Dhanpat said that 25 thousand employees will be needed for the elections. This will include RO, ARO and other staff. DGP has been requested for police management. Additional police arrangements will be made for sensitive and hyper sensitive booths. 4500 booths will be made for voting. There will also be photos of the candidates on the ballot paper.

Elections for mayor and all wards will be held in Faridabad, Gurugram, Manesar, Panipat, Rohtak, Yamunanagar, Hisar and Karnal. Apart from this, two by-elections are to be held in Ambala and Sonipat.

Updates related to the announcement of civic elections

Security will be 10 thousand for the mayor and 3 thousand for the member in the corporation and 5 thousand for the chairman and 1500 rupees for the member in the Municipal Council.

On February 5, all the District Deputy Commissioners will put up notifications in their offices.

Elections will be held in 4 Municipal Councils Pataudi, Jatoli Mandi, Sirsa and Ambala Sadar. There are 21 municipalities. Elections for President and Ward Members will be held here.

By-election is also to be held in Sohna. Here only the election of President is to be held. By-election is to be held in Ward No. 14 in Safido. By-election for President is to be held in Ismailabad in Kurukshetra.
