About 8 cattle died in Chandigarh recently. This created a lot of commotion in the political corridors of Chandigarh. On receiving the news of those cows, Deputy Mayor Taruna Mehta reached the Gaushala. She raised this issue in the meeting along with Senior Deputy Mayor Jasbir Singh Bunty.
Taking cognizance of this, the Mayor agreed to inspect the Gaushalas. Today i.e. Monday was decided, today she will visit the Gaushalas of Maloya, Raipur Khurd, Industrial Area, and Sector 25.
Mayor Harpreet Kaur Babla said that we do not consider the death of cows as negligence but murder. Taking strict action on this, now all the Gaushalas will be inspected, and action will be taken wherever any deficiency is found.
Deputy Mayor Taruna Mehta said that the cow cess (cow tax which is taken with the car) should be used properly. Cows are an important part of our life, they should be taken good care of. The death of cows together like this is a heinous crime, if someone is guilty then he should be punished.
What happened in Maloya Gaushala
On Saturday, February 2 this month, about 8 cattle died a painful death in the Gaushala of Maloya (near Sector 39) due to burning due to electric current. They died due to burning due to coming in contact with the current in an iron pole. MC Commissioner Amit Kumar had ordered an inquiry on this. Mayor Harpreet Kaur Babla also reached there on getting the news of the cattle. The Deputy Mayor says that the news reached her first and she reached there first and took stock of the matter in the Gaushala.

Today Mayor Harpreet Kaur Babla will also take Deputy Mayor and Senior Deputy Mayor with her for a surprise inspection of these four Gaushalas. She said that she will also call a meeting tomorrow on the cleanliness of the sectors and vendors, and now work will be done on surprise inspection of these wards.
Any sector where cleanliness is not maintained, efforts will be made to get proper work done. The mayor also spoke on the issue of fund raising, she said that I am talking to all the parties about how we can increase the funds of Chandigarh Corporation so that work can be done on the broken roads soon.
