The Income Tax Department has been conducting raids on the residences of Congress MLA from Kapurthala, Punjab, Rana Gurjit and his close associates in Kapurthala and Chandigarh for the last five days. In Chandigarh, raids are also going on at the house of a lawyer close to MLA Rana Gurjit. The Income Tax Department team has seized documents of 2 to 3 benami companies during the raid at the lawyer’s house.
Which are suspected to be linked to MLA Rana Gurjit. However, no statement has been issued by the Income Tax Department regarding this. According to sources, many important documents have been recovered from the lawyer’s house, which has made the ground of the case very strong.
Raids going on for the last five days, many important documents seized
Let us tell you that the Income Tax Department’s raids are continuing at the residence of Congress MLA from Kapurthala and businessman Rana Gurjit Singh. Documents are being continuously checked by about a dozen officials at his residence located at Ekta Bhawan.
The department officials are conducting a thorough investigation of the documents related to the income of Rana Gurjit Singh and his relatives. This includes information about the income tax returns filed and taxes paid through electronic gadgets.
10 to 15 benami properties under investigation
According to sources, in the five-day investigation, the Income Tax Department teams have listed out about 10 to 15 benami properties. After which a raid is going on at the lawyer’s house in Chandigarh, the lawyer is suspected of being made the director of Rana Gurjeet’s benami company.
However, there is talk that the said lawyer was not aware that the said companies of Rana Gurjeet were in his name. The Income Tax Department has seized a large amount of documents. Which are being investigated thoroughly. After examining the said documents, the Income Tax Department will take further action in the matter.
