During the Youth Congress protest in Chandigarh, many workers were injured when they fell on the barricades while running to avoid jostling and water cannon. Chandigarh Congress President HS Lucky, All India Youth Congress President Uday Bhanu Chib and other leaders visited Sector 16 Hospital to know the condition of the injured and wished them a speedy recovery.
Chandigarh Senior Deputy Mayor Jasbir Singh Bunty and Youth Congress President Deepak Lobana were also with them. It is worth mentioning that Chandigarh Youth President Deepak and Vice President Sachin Galav were detained by the police yesterday, but they were released late in the evening.
Clashed with police during the protest
Yesterday, i.e. Sunday, from around 11 am, these workers started reaching Sector 35 in preparation for the protest march to Congress Bhawan. There was a fierce protest on the three issues of Congress leaders (ownership rights on houses, Indians deported from abroad, and inflation and unemployment). When some Congress workers started kicking the barricades and pelting stones at the police party, the police used water cannons and lathis. Due to which the crowd dispersed.
But in this jostling and running away, some workers fell and got injured, whose number is said to be 10-12. Three of these people were taken to Sector 16 hospital. Where their treatment continued till late evening. These workers are residents of the colonies here. At present, no one is seriously injured. But to know their whereabouts, national leader Chib also reached the hospital along with the local leaders here and enquired about their condition.
Many police personnel also got injured
Many police personnel also suffered minor injuries in the clash during the demonstration, apart from this, a brick hit the stomach of a female constable in the stone pelting by the Congress workers. She was taken to the hospital. No information has been received from the police about her at present.
