An important step has been taken for the prevention of non-communicable diseases (NCDs) in Haryana. Director General Health Services (DGHS) Dr. Manish Bansal inaugurated the state level workshop on NCDs at Lok Vishram Grih in Sector-1 in Panchkula.
Dr. Bansal said that the Haryana government has prepared a comprehensive plan for the prevention and control of NCDs. This program, currently running in 188 health facilities, will soon be expanded to all district hospitals, sub-district hospitals and community health centers in the state.
The government has launched the ‘Care Companion Program (CCP)’, giving priority to family health education. The main objective of this program is to provide health information and skills to families, so that they can achieve better health outcomes.
DGHS Dr. Kuldeep Singh and NCD Director Dr. Kuldeep Singh Gauri were also present as special guests in the workshop. Dr. Bansal said that the scope of prevention of NCDs is not limited to health only, but it is also linked to economic development, social justice and environmental protection. He also stressed the need to pay special attention to NCDs in line with the development of India’s health system and changing health needs.
He informed that Noora Health is helping in implementing this program in the entire state. A total of 66 representatives including District Program Coordinators, Physicians participated in the workshop, who discussed various aspects of NCD prevention.
Continuous workshops will be organized for NCD prevention
Dr. Bansal said that under the NCD Care Companion Program, workshops will be organized from time to time to provide proper guidance to the patients. In this program, emphasis will be laid on awareness related to infection, diabetes, high blood pressure, heart disease and other NCDs.
