Deputy Commissioner of Panchkula, Haryana, Monica Gupta has issued an important warning on Safer Internet Day. She said that cyber criminals are constantly trying to cheat people in new ways. In a workshop organized by NIC in this regard, she said that if anyone falls prey to cyber fraud, then immediately inform on helpline number 1930.
Educated people are also becoming victims
The DC said that while the Internet has made life convenient, it has also become a medium for cyber criminals. People are being cheated through fake calls, OTP sharing and phishing links. He specifically mentioned that highly educated people are also falling prey to such fraud.
Important tips given for security
In the workshop, in the presence of CAC operator, BLE, Gram Secretary, Sarpanch, college students, police department and Deputy Commissioner’s office employees, the DC gave important tips for security. He said that it is important to check the authenticity of any website or link before opening it. Also, take special care while downloading mobile apps and never click on unknown links.
He said that vigilance and awareness towards cyber security is the only way to protect oneself. For this purpose, Safe Internet Day is celebrated all over the world, so that safe use of internet can be promoted among children, women and youth.
Avoid clicking on unknown links – SDM
SDM Chandrakant Kataria said that people unknowingly share their confidential information by clicking on fake links. He advised citizens not to share sensitive information like Aadhar card, PAN card with anyone. He said that do not believe in tempting promises, because many people lose their savings in the pursuit of becoming rich quickly.
During the workshop, DIO Aastha also gave information on important points related to cyber security.
