The Punjab government has transferred three police officers including an IPS. Gurmeet Singh Chauhan, who was made SSP of Ferozepur two days ago, has been removed and re-appointed as AIG of Anti Gangster Task Force (AGTF).
While the command of SSP of Ferozepur has been handed over to PPS officer Bhupinder Singh. At present, he is posted as Zonal AIG CID and Commandant of 3rd IRB Battalion Ludhiana.
He has been given the additional responsibility of the post of SSP. While PPS officer Manjit Singh has been given the responsibility of SP Investigation Ferozepur. He was currently working as SP in PBI Kapurthala.
Chauhan is investigating many cases
The main reason behind appointing Gurmeet Singh Chauhan as AIG in AGTF again is that he has been working in AGTF for a long time. The teams led by him have completed many big projects. Apart from this, the team that extradited Nabha jail break mastermind Ramanjit Singh Romi from Hong Kong to India was also working under his leadership.
While the process of extradition of many gangsters from other countries is also going on under his leadership. In such a situation, the government has taken this decision.
On February 21, 21 IPS officers including ADGP, IG, DIG were transferred by Punjab Police. During this, Jalandhar City Police Commissioner and SSPs of 9 districts were changed. ADGP Security Sudhanshu Srivastava was given the charge of provisioning along with security.
Jalandhar Police Commissioner Swapan Sharma was appointed DIG Ferozepur Range. While the responsibility of Jalandhar Police Commissioner was handed over to 2006 batch IPS officer Dhanpreet Kaur. DIG Jagdale Nilambar (2008 batch) was appointed in Ludhiana Range.
During this period, Gurmeet Singh Chauhan was appointed SSP Ferozepur, Akhil Chaudhary SSP Muktsar Sahib, Sandeep Kumar Malik SSP Hoshiarpur, Ankur Gupta SSP Ludhiana, Shubham Agarwal SSP Fatehgarh Sahib, Aditya SSP Gurdaspur, Maninder Singh SSP Rural Amritsar, Mohammad Sarfaaz Alam SSP Barnala, Jyoti Yadav was appointed SSP Khanna. Jyoti Yadav is the wife of Punjab Education Minister Harjot Singh Bains. She was earlier posted as SP in Mohali.
