To curb the wasteful expenditure of the Chandigarh Municipal Corporation, which is facing a financial crisis, the Indian Institute of Public Administration (IIPA) will now conduct an audit. A detailed report will be prepared on where and how the money of the Chandigarh Municipal Corporation is being spent. In this audit, recommendations will also be given to identify unnecessary expenses and control them.
Municipal Corporation officials have sought a list of all outsourcing employees and details of their postings. This will help to find out where and in which department these employees are actually working. Departmental sources say that many complaints were received that some employees are working only on paper, while they are engaged in the personal work of political leaders and officials.
Outsourcing recruitment will be investigated
According to sources, it will also be investigated which officers and employees have used their influence to get their relatives a job in the corporation. It will also be seen whether the outsourcing recruitment has been done as per the rules or not.
No money to pay salaries, still outsourcing is increasing
Chandigarh Municipal Corporation does not have money to pay salaries to its regular employees, but still outsourcing is increasing. 33 crores have been spent for January’s salary, while 170 crores will be needed for February and March’s salary and other expenses. This amount has been sought from the administration as a grant.
Report will be ready in 6 months
IIPA’s team will prepare the audit report in 6 months and submit it to the corporation. After this, the Municipal Corporation administration will decide the future strategy on the basis of this report, so that financial irregularities can be stopped and the financial condition of the corporation can be improved. The report will reveal which department and which officer of that department has caused loss to the Municipal Corporation by ignoring the rules.
