Inspector Ram Ratan, posted on special security duty in Chandigarh Police, has been suspended and posted in the police line. Also, orders for departmental inquiry have been issued against him. The responsibility of this investigation has been handed over to DSP Venkatesh. He will soon prepare a complete report of the case and submit it to the senior officers of Chandigarh Police. It has been learned that the case in which this action was taken was being investigated for a long time. He was recruited as Assistant Sub Inspector in Chandigarh Police in the year 1997.
Allegation of negligence in Excise Act case
According to sources, Inspector Ram Ratan has been suspended on charges of negligence in a case of Excise Act while being SHO. In the investigation report sent by the Crime Branch officials, his supervision was found lacking. The report said that while being SHO, he showed serious negligence in the case, after which this action was taken.
Serious allegations have been made against Inspector Ram Ratan earlier also. The CBI has already registered a case against him, in which he is accused of tampering with evidence. The High Court has stayed any action in this case and the hearing is ongoing.
