On the first day of the budget session of the Haryana Assembly, Congress reached the House without a commander. Congress MLAs sitting on the benches in front of the ruling party appeared very disappointed with the decision of their high command not to declare the leader of the legislative party.
Congress MLAs were hoping that the leader of the legislative party could be announced by the high command some time before the start of the budget session, but this did not happen. As a result, Congress MLAs had to participate in the proceedings of the House without a leader.
Hooda seen in the role of leader
Although former Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda appeared in the Assembly in the role of leader of Congress MLAs, the Congress leadership has not yet approved his name. This is the second time when Congress had to participate in the proceedings of the House without the leader of the legislative party.
After the formation of the BJP government in October, the winter session of the Assembly was held. Even at that time, the leader of the Congress Legislative Party could not be announced. Since then, there are constant speculations that the leader of the legislative party will be announced any time, but the Congress high command has made the MLAs wait for it too long.
30 out of 37 MLAs are Hooda supporters
37 MLAs of Congress have been elected to the Assembly. More than 30 of these MLAs are Hooda supporters, but the anti-Hooda leaders of Congress do not want Hooda to be given the command of the leader of the legislative party again.
In a discussion with Congress in-charge BK Hariprasad, these senior leaders have also informed him of their opinion. There are some Hooda supporting MLAs who are with Hooda for show, but they themselves want to become the leader of the legislative party.
Such leaders have lobbied for themselves instead of lobbying before the party in-charge to make Hooda the leader of the legislative party. Out of 37 Congress MLAs, more than two dozen have proposed to the in-charge to make Hooda the leader of the legislative party.
Hooda was the leader of opposition in the assembly in the previous government. The Congress in-charge has submitted his report to Rahul Gandhi and Mallikarjun Kharge.
Decision on the leader of the legislative party possible by Holi
Haryana Congress President Chaudhary Udaybhan hopes that due to Rahul Gandhi’s busy schedule, the decision on the name of the leader of the legislative party has not been taken yet. There is a possibility that the decision on the leader of the legislative party will be taken by Holi.
The leader of the Congress Legislative Party will be the leader of the opposition in the assembly. According to Udaybhan, there is a full possibility that Congress can get the leader of the legislative party and the opposition during this budget session.
