Under the campaign ‘Yuddh Nasha Ke Viruddh’ launched by the government, 76 kg of heroin, 50 kg of opium and drug money worth Rs 50 lakh have been recovered so far.

Talking to reporters with AAP spokesperson Neel Garg at the party office, he said that under the campaign ‘Yuddh Nasha Ke Viruddh’ launched by the government, 76 kg of heroin, 50 kg of opium and drug money worth Rs 50 lakh have been recovered so far.
At the same time, 1,072 FIRs have been registered under the Narcotics Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act (NDPS) and 1,485 drug smugglers have been arrested.
Apart from this, the police have also recovered about seven lakh intoxicant pills, 4.5 kg intoxicant powder, 1.25 kg intoxicant ice and 950 kg of poppy husk along with other synthetic drugs.
The houses of about 26 smugglers have been demolished. Cheema said that these figures show how serious the Aam Aadmi Party government of Punjab is about ending drug abuse. Cheema said that the police is taking action against drug smugglers 24 hours a day. He said that this time such people will either leave the drug business or leave Punjab, otherwise they will be behind the bars of the jail.
Strict action against drug smugglers continues
Cheema said that the previous governments used to give protection to drug smugglers, on the contrary the ‘AAP’ government is taking strict action against drug smugglers. The conviction rate in NDPS cases has increased to 86 percent in the AAP government, while during the Congress rule it was very low at 58 percent and during the Akali-BJP government it was only 40 percent. In some districts, the conviction rate has reached 90 to 95 percent.
Ministers are constantly monitoring under my leadership: Cheema
Addressing journalists in Chandigarh on Tuesday, Finance Minister Harpal Cheema said that all the four ministers are constantly monitoring under his leadership. At the same time, the four ministers of the cabinet sub-committee formed under his leadership for the implementation and review of this campaign are constantly monitoring with the officials in various districts.
Health Minister Balbir Singh is visiting hospitals and de-addiction centers in all the districts. Very good results of this campaign are being seen everywhere. Cheema has appealed to the people to cooperate with the government in this campaign and to immediately admit the drug addicts to the de-addiction centers.
People are being made aware
Cheema said that along with action against drug smugglers, the government is taking many other better steps. More than 1000 meetings have been organized in universities and colleges to increase awareness among the people. Apart from this, such programs are also being run in villages.
