The body of a newly married woman was found hanging from a noose in the house in Sector-69. In this case, the woman’s family has alleged murder. The deceased has been identified as Priyanka. Phase-8 police have registered a case under Section 108 of the BNS against the deceased’s husband Akash and others from the in-laws’ side on the basis of the statement and investigation of the deceased’s father Surinder. Surinder alleges that Priyanka’s husband Akash and others from the in-laws’ side used to harass her for dowry. Due to this, she committed suicide out of frustration.

In the complaint given to the police, Surinder told that Priyanka was his eldest daughter. She had studied B.Sc Nursing. In the year 2023, Priyanka was married to Akash, a resident of Kaithal. After marriage, they lived well in Madhuban Karnal for eight months. Akash’s mother Babli is posted as a sub-inspector in Haryana Police. After this, they came to Mohali in 2024. Priyanka used to work as a nurse in a private hospital here. She lived on rent in Sector-69, while Akash did not do any work. Due to this, he used to beat Priyanka.

He had taken a loan on Priyanka’s salary by pressurizing her. Priyanka used to pay its installments. It is alleged that Akash and his mother Babli used to say that Akash has to be sent abroad. For this, he had given them up to Rs 12 lakh. At around 10 pm on March 13, Surinder’s nephew Ajay called him and told that Priyanka had locked the door of the room from inside. After this, when he reached Mohali with other family members the next day, he came to know that his daughter had hanged herself in the room.

Her body is kept in the mortuary of Phase-6 hospital. In this regard, Phase-8 police station in-charge Navdeep Singh said that the police have registered a case against Priyanka’s husband Akash and other people from her in-laws’ side on the statement of the family members of the deceased.
