On the morning of 14 March, a Chandigarh Police constable and a Home Guard volunteer died after being hit by a speeding Polo car on the Chandigarh/Zirakpur border. Senior officers of the Chandigarh Police Department have issued orders to all to deduct one day’s salary and give the money to the families of these two martyrs. It has also been said that if someone does not want to get the money deducted, then there is no compulsion on him. He can register his objection to the officer of his concerned department.
The body was torn into pieces
A car crushed police personnel and a person at a check post set up for Holi on Friday morning on the Zirakpur border. All three died on the spot in the accident. The speed of the car was so high that all three people got stuck in the barbed wires installed for security and their bodies were torn into pieces.
The deceased included constable Sukhdarshan, Home Guard volunteer Rajesh and another person. As soon as the information was received, Chandigarh DGP Surendra Singh Yadav himself reached the spot and took stock of the incident.
The police arrested the accused driver on the basis of CCTV footage. A case has also been registered against three minors sitting inside the car. The accused has been identified as Govind, a resident of Hallomajra, Chandigarh.
Constable’s wife is also in the police
Deceased constable Sukhdarshan’s wife Renu is also in the Chandigarh Police. She is posted at Sector-19 police station. Homeguard Rajesh was a resident of Gurdaspur, Punjab. He lived in Sector-31. Earlier he was posted in the traffic police. The third person who died has been identified as Samarth Dua. He lived in the campus of Punjab University. He worked in a national mobile company.
