People commuting to the sectors across Ghaggar in Panchkula, Haryana have got a big relief from today. Here the bridge built on the Ghaggar river between Sector 25/26 and Sector 20/21 has opened for movement. This will not only reduce the distance by 5 to 7 kilometers for the people but will also help in avoiding the problem of traffic jam.
Although this bridge has been opened for a trial of 5 days from today, but it is likely that by the end of this month, all its finishing work will be completed and it will be opened permanently. This is the third bridge connecting the sectors across Ghaggar in Panchkula, while before this there are two more bridges built on the Ghaggar river near Majri Chowk and connecting Sector 23/24 to Sector 3/21.
With the opening of this bridge, people coming from Sector 25, 26, 27, 28 and 31 across Ghaggar in Panchkula as well as Barwala Ramgarh will get a big facility. This bridge will work as a shortcut especially for those people who have to come and go towards South Sectors of Panchkula, Zirakpur or South Sectors of Chandigarh. This will reduce the distance by about six to seven kilometers.
This bridge is a part of Ring Road PR 7 connecting Punjab, Haryana, Himachal and Chandigarh. People will find it easy to reach Zirakpur, Rajpura, Patiala, Mohali and International Airport Chandigarh. Along with this, the traffic pressure on the two bridges built earlier on the Ghaggar river will also be reduced.
The length of this bridge is 360 meters. 10 spans of 36 meters length have been built in it. The cost of building this bridge is approximately Rs 48.99 crore. However, the completion of this bridge has taken a lot of time from the scheduled time. Its construction work was inaugurated in September 2020. According to the information, due to non-availability of land on time and some other reasons, the deadline for the construction of this bridge had to be extended eight times. Its work was targeted to be completed in August 2022.
