A case has come to light in which 4 policemen beat up Rohit Kumar, a President Award winner in Chandigarh and National Youth Awardee who has also been honored in Russia for social service, at Hallomajra Police Outpost falling under Thana-31. It is alleged that the policemen threw him on the ground and beat him brutally with sticks, due to which his thumb broke, there was swelling on the head and face, and there was a serious injury to the spine.
After which the family members have given a complaint to Chandigarh SSP Kanwardeep Kaur, demanding strict action against the policemen who beat him. After the incident, Rohit was taken to GMCH-32 for treatment.
According to sources, 2 ASIs and 1 constable may face action in the case of assault at the outpost. These three can be sent to the line soon.
Had gone to the outpost to register a complaint
Victim Rohit told that he and his friend Gobind had reached Hallomajra outpost on Saturday evening, where two girls known to him had come to register a complaint of physical abuse against their father.
Rohit alleges that instead of helping the girls, the police started slapping them. When Rohit and his friend appealed to the police to show humanity, the policemen started beating them brutally.
People also made videos on their mobiles
According to the information, CCTV cameras are installed in the police post too, in which everything is captured. Apart from this, the people present there also made videos on their mobiles, in which Rohit is seen lying on the ground in an injured state, while the policemen are present on the spot. Rohit and Gobind allege that the policemen present in the post beat them up. They were in a drunken state and they beat them badly with sticks, kicks and punches.
