There will be no star night in Punjab University (PU) in Chandigarh. Only educational and cultural programs will be organized in the campus. Aditya Thakur was murdered during the show of Masoom Sharma, after which a committee formed by the university management has prepared new standard operating procedures (SOPs) in this regard. The final approval of Vice Chancellor Prof. Renu Wig is yet to be given on these.
The committee includes Prof. Navdeep Goyal, Prof. Nah, Prof. Ainal Moga, Prof. Navjot Kaur, VC nominee Prof. Nandita Singh, Prof. Ratna Singh, Prof. Neena Kaplas, Prof. Sukhbari Kaur, Prof. Namita and Prof. Gaurav Gaur. All the members together have prepared a detailed SOP regarding discipline, security and responsibilities in the campus.
Signatures of all three DSWs are necessary on the notice
Under the new guidelines, any committee related to students will be formed in PU, in which the presence of Dean Student Welfare (DSW), DSW Women and Associate DSW will be necessary. The wardens of the girls and boys hostels will be part of these committees on rotation basis. The signatures of all three DSWs will be mandatory on all notices issued in the campus.
Fire brigade and ambulance will be present
Deployment of fire brigade and ambulance along with security will be mandatory during every event. All bills will have to be submitted within 7 working days. Also, no advertising stall will be set up in the student center without permission.
Signatures of all council members will be required to maintain the council fund. The warriors of the student council will be able to inspect any mess or canteen only if written permission has been taken from the DSW or DSW Women. The mess-canteen of the girls hostel will be inspected only with the permission of DSW Women.
Proposal for parents meeting and wellness center also
It has been made mandatory to hold two meetings with resident students and at least one meeting with parents every year. Along with this, there is also a proposal to set up a wellness centre in the campus, where students can be counselled with the help of alumni.
The committee to be formed under the chairmanship of DSW will include two wardens, nominees of the registrar and finance department, VC’s representative, two representatives of the campus student council, syndicate nominee and executive engineer.
