To reduce the dependence of farmers on chemical fertilizers in Haryana, the state government will encourage green manure. Farmers growing Dhaincha on their land will be given Rs 1000 per acre. This incentive amount will be sent directly to the bank accounts of the farmers.
More than 3 lakh farmers will get benefit
Agriculture Minister Shyam Singh Rana said on Saturday that the target is to diversify crops on four lakh acres of land in the state, in which Dhaincha crop is being given priority. More than three lakh farmers will get benefit from this scheme.
Scheme implemented for the first time
Dhaincha is a natural fertilizer which is helpful in increasing soil fertility, maintaining moisture and reducing production cost. This scheme is being implemented for the first time across the state, which will benefit thousands of farmers. Dhaincha is a leguminous crop, which is plowed into the soil before harvesting to prepare organic fertilizer.
This crop is also helpful in increasing the fertility of the soil as it does nitrogen fixation and supplies nitrogen. Experts say that this improves the soil structure and maintains productivity for a long time.
